I am currently watching Barbara Walters and this man, Thomas Beatie, gave birth to a child in June 2008. And I don't want to "bash" him and I feel like because "he" still has a vagina, still has ovaries, still has a uterus, a cervix, according to biology, I am sorry you're a woman.
Women carry children (with the exception of Hippocampus, aka a seahorse). Not men. I feel if this person wishes to identify himself truly as a man, what is holding him back from finishing gender reassignment surgery? Breasts made him a woman, but his vagina doesn't? How hypocritical is that?!
I am very much for gay rights, I don't mind he is married to a woman, I don't mind he had surgery, I don't mind he had his daughter (because his wife is unable, good for them on that), but how can you say such a backwards statement? He claimed on the episode that his vagina didn't stop him from being a man, then why spend all the money to change everything else? Why not save a penny and not do the surgery at all?
Another thing that really irked me was I read the story in I think, People Magazine and he said he wouldn't release information to the media, yet here he sits talking to Barbara Walters. Not only is he a hypocrite, he is a liar. He said he wouldn't give out photos, release his daughter's name. He just showed a home video and said her name is Susan.
If you want to be gay, amen for you. My best friend, KK, is a lesbian. My good friend, Santiago, is gay. I have no problem.
Beatie startd the uproar himself. He wrote a letter to Advocate Magazine. He sent in the photo. And he claimed he didn't want the "Media" to go crazy over it. I'm sorry, you started it.
Now, people are wishing the baby to die. I hope the baby and the family remains safe. People wished the child to be taken by Child Protective Services because he's an "abomination." I don't consider him that. I don't see why people have such a problem with this family and their child, opposed to a gay family with a child... what's the difference?
You probably are considering me hypocritical, but please read every word. I am bewithered at the family's lie that they wanted nothing to do with the media and they started it all.
